9TH National Art Competition Retreat
Day 1 of the 9th National Art Competition workshop started on Monday, October 17th, 2016. The first workshop was given by Akintunde Disu titled ‘Creative Concept Development: The process involved how to better interpret a given topic’ and the second workshop was given by Gerald Chukwuma which was titled ‘Challenging your Comfort Zone: Dare to be different!’
The CSR Support Manager, Nigerian Breweries Ifedayo Durosinmi-Etti was also present at the retreat to reiterate the Sponsor’s commitment to support contemporary art in Nigeria.
Day 2 of the workshop was on Tuesday, 18th October, 2016. Remi Vaughan-Richards spoke at the third workshop which was titled ‘Art: A tool for Socio-cultural change’ and the fourth workshop was taken by Omoligho Udenta and it was titled ‘Space Management’.
Day 3 was the final day of the workshop and was held on Wednesday, 19th October, 2016. The fifth workshop was a Film screening of a documentary on Jean-Michel Basquiat. Papa Omotayo took the sixth workshop which was titled ‘Where Ideas Come from-finding Concepts and Ideas’.
Uche Okpa-Iroha took the finalist on a lecture about embarking on a deeper conceptual thinking relating to their individuals projects. The finalists did a presentation of their project proposal as the concluding part of the retreat.
