African Artists Foundation is a non-racial organisation. Membership is available to artists of all races and cultures. An African Artist is taken to mean someone who was born in Africa, or who is a resident in an African country, or whose parents are African, or whose work reflects African sensibilities or themes.
Classes of Members
There are two membership levels: Junior and Full.

Junior Membership
Junior Membership is open to art students receiving formal training in an art college or University recognized by The Foundation, or an art student receiving informal training with a Master of the craft, as recognized by The Foundation, for a period determined by either the Master or The Foundation, and has received a referral letter from said Master or recognized for exceptional skill by The Foundation.

Full Membership
Full Membership is open to any person with an art degree from a recognised Art College or University, recognized by The Foundation, or anyone who has completed informal training with a recognised Master of the Craft, as recognized by The Foundation, and has received a letter of reference or recognised by The Foundation for exceptional skill.

Membership in Recognition of Service
Full Membership shall be conveyed onto anyone whom the Board of Trustees believes to have been of service to the Foundation or to the community as a whole.

Why should I become a member?
- Only members of the Foundation are eligible for consideration for the local and international exhibitions organised by the foundation.
- Only members may participate in the artists-in-residence and international arts exhibits and competitions.
- Only members may be considered for the print production of the artists’ masterpieces.
- Members will get representation by the Foundation at various art forums and meetings on the member’s behalf.
- The Foundation will represent members at short notice at business meetings for its members.
- Artists will be able to purchase arts equipment, laptops, computer software, cameras etc at hugely discounted prices.
- Free access to the artists’ centre and facilities.
- Works of members will be eligible for display on the AAF on-line gallery pages.
- Members will get access to all the programs listed by the foundation on the website. www.africanartists.org/programs.html
- Free access to all the paying exhibitions held by the AAF.
- Membership Card, T-shirt and face cap.
